Chapter 1: General Provisions

Article 1 (Purpose)

These Terms of Service set forth the basic rights and responsibilities of members and important matters between the member and MasterPrep (hereinafter referred to as "the Company") for the use of comprehensive English education services provided by the Company through the MasterPrep website (www.masterprep.net, hereinafter "the Site").

Article 2 (Effect, Application, and Modification of Terms)

(1) The Company posts these Terms in a way that is easily accessible, such as during the member registration process or at the bottom of the Site.
(2) These Terms take effect once posted on the Site. Members who agree to these Terms upon registration will be bound by them, and, if modified, by the updated Terms from the effective date of such changes.
(3) The Company may amend these Terms within the bounds of applicable laws, without infringing upon members' legitimate rights.
(4) In the case of amendments, the Company will notify members by posting the changes on the Site or through one of the following methods:
1. Posting on the Site
2. Email to the most recent address provided by the member
3. SMS notification
4. Other methods such as newspaper announcements
(5) For amendments deemed disadvantageous to users, the Company will obtain consent within 10 days (or 30 days for significant amendments).
(6) If the member does not express disagreement within the specified period, the Company may consider the amendments accepted.
(7) Members who do not agree with the updated Terms may cease use of the service and withdraw membership.
(8) Notification and effectiveness follow the methods stated in each Article of these Terms.

Article 3 (Supplementary Provisions)

For matters not specified in these Terms, the Company will adhere to applicable laws, individual service terms, detailed usage guidelines, and rules established by the Company.

Article 4 (Definitions of Terms)

(1) The definitions of key terms are as follows:
1. Member: A person who registers on the Site, agrees to these Terms, and receives an ID and password.
2. ID: A unique identifier created by the member and approved by the Company for member identification.
3. Password: A combination of characters set by the member to verify identity and protect personal information.
4. Book Sales Service: A service providing educational books and materials through the Site.
(2) Terms not defined here follow definitions under applicable laws and service guidelines.

Chapter 2: Service Use Agreement

Article 5 (Formation of the Service Agreement)

The service agreement is formed when an individual applies for membership and the Company approves the application.

Article 6 (Information Required for Membership Application)

During membership application, required information (ID, name, date of birth, password, address, phone number, email, etc.) must be provided in the designated form.

Article 7 (Acceptance of Service Application)

(1) The Company will accept applications where the applicant provides accurate information and agrees to these Terms.
(2) The Company may withhold acceptance in certain cases, such as:
1. If the service cannot be technically provided
2. If the application contains false information or omits required details
3. If the applicant has previously been disqualified under Article 22, Section 2, unless the disqualification was lifted over a year ago
(3) Service usage may vary based on member qualifications.

Article 8 (Changes to Service Agreement)

(1) Members may view and modify their personal information at any time.
(2) If there is any change to the information provided during registration, members must update it in the specified format.
(3) The Company is not liable for errors in information provided by members.

Chapter 3: Content Use Agreement

Article 9 (Provision of Content Information and Formation of Agreement)

(1) The Company provides clear information on content (e.g., product details, payment methods, age restrictions) to ensure members understand the content before entering an agreement.
(2) The Company allows members to confirm and correct application details before finalizing content agreements.
(3) Content agreements are formed when the Company's acceptance reaches the member.
(4) Members may decline if they do not meet age or other requirements set by the Company.

Article 10 (Refunds for Overpayments)

(1) If an overpayment is made, the Company will refund it using the original payment method or an alternative if necessary.
(2) Refunds for Company errors will be full, while refunds due to member errors may incur reasonable fees.

Chapter 4: Service Use

Article 11 (Commencement of Services)

Services commence once a member's application is approved, and paid services begin after payment.

Article 12 (Service Hours)

(1) Services are generally available 24/7, with exceptions for maintenance or technical issues.
(2) The Company may limit access to specific service hours and will notify members accordingly.

Article 13 (Service Modification and Suspension)

(1) The Company may change services after notifying members.
(2) Service suspension may occur for unavoidable circumstances, with prior notice provided when possible.

Article 14 (Management of ID and Password)

(1) Members are responsible for managing their ID and password and are liable for any consequences of negligent handling.
(2) Members must inform the Company if they suspect unauthorized use of their ID or password.

Article 15 (Member Posts)

(1) Posts include all content members submit within the service.
(2) Members are solely responsible for content they post and must ensure compliance with laws.
(3) The Company may delete or move posts that violate laws or Company policies.

Article 16 (Copyright of Posts)

(1) Copyright for posts resides with the author, while Company-created works are owned by the Company.
(2) Members grant the Company permission to use their posts for promotional purposes, subject to individual consent for certain uses.

Article 17 (Provided Services)

(1) The Company provides video lectures, educational information, book sales, and other English education services.
(2) Services begin immediately upon application unless otherwise noted.
(3) Some services may require fees, with details provided separately.
(4) Certain services need additional software, for which instructions will be provided.
(5) Members may receive service information via email, mail, or SMS, with an opt-out option.
(6) Paid services for minors may require guardian consent.
(7) Refunds are processed through the original payment method, or cash if unavailable.
(8) Service offerings may change, with notice on the relevant screen.

Points Service
(1) Members may earn points through registration, purchases, or events. Points expire after one year of inactivity and cannot be refunded or reinstated.
(2) Points may be used for course payments but not for books.

Article 18 (Book Sales Service)

(1) Members may purchase books via the Site. The Company will notify members and refund if a book is unavailable.
(2) Delivery methods, costs, and timelines are specified, and delays due to Company error are compensated.
(3) Returns are accepted within seven days unless the book is damaged, used, or marked as non-returnable.
(4) Refunds are processed upon return completion, typically through the original payment method.
(5) The Company may share necessary member information with delivery providers under data protection agreements.
(6) Members bear return costs for changes of mind.

Chapter 5: Rights and Obligations of Contracting Parties

Article 19 (Company Obligations)

(1) The Company provides stable services, protecting member data in compliance with laws and security standards.

Article 20 (Member Obligations)

(1) Members cannot transfer their usage rights without Company consent.
(2) Members must refrain from unauthorized sharing or commercial use of information obtained through the service.

Article 21 (Privacy Protection)

The Company protects member information and does not disclose it without consent unless legally required.

Chapter 6: Termination and Restrictions

Article 22 (Termination and Restrictions on Use)

(1) Members may terminate their membership at any time through the membership withdrawal feature.
(2) For severe violations, the Company may suspend or terminate membership after notifying the member.

Article 23 (Non-Transferable Rights)

(1) Membership rights are non-transferable without Company consent.

Chapter 7: Compensation for Damages

Article 24 (Compensation for Damages)

The Company will compensate members for damages caused by the Company's gross negligence.

Article 25 (Refund Policy)

Refunds are governed by applicable laws, including the "Act on the Consumer Protection in Electronic Commerce."

Article 26 (Company's Refund Policy)

1. Refund Requests:
- Members must request refunds through the designated form on the site, not by phone. Refunds are typically processed within 2-4 business days after submission.
- Refunds exclude costs for materials, USBs, or downloaded files. Event materials, like notes or MP3s, must be returned, or their costs will be deducted from the refund.
2. Partial Refunds:
- Partial refunds are based on the used portion of the course content and are calculated based on system-recorded usage.
3. Event Materials:
- If event-provided materials are returned, shipping and handling fees will be deducted. Rates are 4,000 KRW (5,000 KRW for Jeju), with additional deductions for color printing or binding.
4. PDF Lecture Notes:
- A 10% fee will be deducted on top of usage-based deductions if lecture notes were downloaded in PDF format.
5. Package Course Refunds:
- For package courses, refunds are calculated by deducting the cost of individual courses used, plus any applicable fees.
6. Discounts/Coupons:
- Refunds for discounted purchases deduct the discount or coupon amount from the total.
7. Answer Sheets for Problem-Solving Lectures:
- If answer sheets were separately provided, the course cannot be refunded or canceled.

Course Changes:
Courses eligible for a refund can be changed by first processing a refund and then reapplying for the new course.

Company-Initiated Refunds:
If services are discontinued for any reason under Article 22, the Company will notify members and issue refunds as quickly as possible.

Forced Account Termination:
If the member violates terms or laws and is terminated, refund policies do not apply.

Article 27 (Right of Withdrawal)

Members may withdraw from a course if the content differs from what was advertised or not delivered as promised within three months of receipt or 30 days from when they became aware of the discrepancy.

Article 28 (Disclaimer)

(1) The Company is not liable for service interruptions due to natural disasters or unavoidable events.
(2) The Company is not responsible for service disruptions caused by the member's actions.
(3) The Company is not responsible for any loss of expected benefits or results from using the service.
(4) The Company is not liable for the accuracy of information or materials posted by third parties.
(5) The Company is not responsible for issues arising from members' use of third-party links or advertised sites.

Chapter 8: Legal Matters

Article 29 (Governing Law and Jurisdiction)

(1) Any disputes arising between the Company and members are subject to the laws of South Korea and will be settled in a competent court in accordance with the Civil Procedure Act.

1. These Terms take effect on January 31, 2014, replacing all previously established terms.
